Welcome!
Welcome to the official website for the Golden Eagles NJROTC unit!
Here, you will find information about the various teams, the current Unit Staff, the Unit Calendar, and much more. If you have any questions, you can navigate to the "Contact Us" page, where you can send out a question to our staff, and we'll get back to you as soon as possible!
Our unit is located at Fleming Island High School, and we are part of the popular high school program provided by the U.S. Navy, the Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, or NJROTC. Our program's mission is to instill in students in United States secondary educational institutions the values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment. Contrary to popular belief, a cadet does NOT have to join the military after graduating high-school whenever he/she has participated in the program. It is completely optional, however, a large benefit of the program is that it offers scholarship opportunities to those who are in good academic/unit standing, and wish to go to college. We teach our cadets to follow the Navy's three core tenets: Honor, Courage, and Commitment, and to refine their behavior and values. Our program offers various team activities and community service events which develop a strong sense of camaraderie throughout our family.

NJROTC's History |
The NJROTC program was established by Public Law in 1964 and may be found in Title 10, U.S. Code, Chapter 102. The program is conducted at accredited secondary schools throughout the nation, by instructors who are retired Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard officers and enlisted personnel. The NJROTC curriculum emphasizes citizenship and leadership development, as well as our maritime heritage, the significance of sea power, and naval topics such as the fundamentals of naval operations, seamanship, navigation and meteorology. Classroom instruction is augmented throughout the year by community service activities, drill competition, field meets, flights, visits to naval activities, marksmanship training, and other military training. Uniforms, textbooks, training aids, travel allowance, and a substantial portion of instructors' salaries are provided by the Navy.
